Political Science was established in the year 1973. Since its establishment Political Science is being taught as aoptional subject for UG programme i.e., BA. The department was headed by Sri Mallikarjun R Halasangi, Associate Professor. After his retirement on 31st May 2022 the department was run by guest faculty and at present Sri Ananda G, Assistant professor, took charge as Head of the department who has been transferred from AVK College for Women by the management. Now under NEP, the subject is offered as one of the DSC for BA students. Indian Constitution which is mandatory is taught by the faculty of the department to all the UG programmes. Total number of reference books on political science available in the library are 4000+.One computer installed in the library with internet facility for staff and for students the facility is available in the respective laboratory. Two class room with smart board and a projector. The department organizes seminars, workshops, group discussions in the interest of the students. The department conducts special guest lectures by inviting eminent personalities.
Besides, conventional mode of teaching, various students’ friendly methods is also used in the class room situation. Interactive method, group discussion and seminar by students are often used and they have been proved to be effective. The students are free to ask questions and raise their doubts during lecture so that they can develop critical thinking. The faculty of the department motivates students to enroll in NCC and NSS unit of our college to discharge social responsibilities.
